“Why Does God Save?”

Paul wrote his letter to the Romans while paused in Greece, probably Corinth, on his way to Jerusalem as he approached the end of his third missionary journey. He didn’t know the churches in Rome personally but longed to visit the city on his way to Spain. In God’s providence, Paul would visit Rome in chains after his arrest in Jerusalem before appealing to Caesar for his freedom. In this introduction to the Mt. Everest of the New Testament, Paul identifies who he is and explains that the purpose of his ministry is ultimately the glory of Christ our Lord.
