The Power of Wisdom

Solomon instructs his son to pursue wisdom, “receive my words and treasure up my commandments” (v. 1). He promises this pursuit will lead to an understanding of “the fear of the LORD” (v. 5), which is the beginning of wisdom (Prov. 1:7). How can he be sure pursuing wisdom will lead to receiving it? Because “the LORD gives wisdom” (v. 6). With this wisdom, the believer can resist temptation.
