The Call of Wisdom

Chapters 1–9 are an extended introduction to the book of Proverbs. Solomon wants to teach his son and us that wisdom is a matter of life and death. To drive this point home, Solomon paints a picture of lady wisdom preaching in the town square, calling everyone to turn to her. To avoid her call is to face eternal punishment, but to heed wisdom is to dwell securely. There are two ways to live: wisely or foolishly. We all must choose.
