Who Will Deliver Me?

In Romans 5–8, Paul describes the Christian life. Prior to salvation, we were “in Adam” but now, reconciled to God, we are “in Christ.” The Christian is alive in Christ, no longer a slave to sin, and dead to the law. But this doesn’t mean the law is bad. Far from it, Paul says the law is holy, righteous, and good (Rom. 7:12). In this passage, Paul drives this point home by arguing sin—not the law—is God’s enemy and our biggest problem.
